Resistant Materials Technology is a practical based subject which encourages pupils to combine designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding in order to make quality products. Pupils design and make products with creativity and originality that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. Pupils learn about materials, how to join them together, how to mark them out accurately as well as choosing and using tools correctly.
Pupils are taught how to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and how to evaluate existing products. This is an enjoyable subject for those pupils who like to make things, as it develops their creative skills.
Through evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, they develop a critical understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.
