Return to School - Wednesday 8th September 2021
We are very much looking forward to welcoming our pupils back to school for the new academic year on Wednesday 8th September. With no significant changes in national guidance over the summer break we are now able to confirm arrangements for the start of the new term. Whilst we want to reassure parents that staff and student safety remain our number one priority we are pleased that this academic year will commence with the easing of many school restrictions that were in place last year.
At present government guidance does not advise the wearing of face coverings in school. As you will have observed, many people continue to choose to wear a mask on public transport and in busy public areas such as supermarkets. Whilst it will not be the expectation that staff and students continue to wear a face covering in school we will continue to support anyone in our school who chooses to wear a mask. Guidance does suggest that secondary aged pupils would be advised to wear a mask on transport to school.
All pupils will not remain in bubbles for their learning during this academic year and will be able to use specialist classrooms and facilities in school more freely. We have also maintained some of the one-way systems around school which we observed helped for a calm and orderly transition between lessons. Pupils will be able to mix with their year group at break times and lunchtimes.
Please may we remind all parents/carers of our secondary aged pupils that home Lateral Flow testing will need to continue twice weekly. We will be testing in school for the first week back. If you want your child to be tested in school please make sure you have given consent for your child to be tested in school. We will then be moving to all pupils home testing.
The wearing of full school uniform daily will resume from the start of the academic year. Last year, we allowed PE kit to be worn to school on the days that your child had a PE lesson. This will continue for now. We appreciate your support with this and if there are any issues in purchasing school-wear, please contact your child’s class teacher as a first point of contact.
Please note school does not arrange transport for pupils if you have any queries regarding transport please contact Salford LA transport department on 0161 925 1351.
