You may begin to notice that we are changing the way we share images of our children online and on our school website. As part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding, we are adapting how we showcase school life in response to growing concerns around the use and manipulation of children’s images, including through AI. This doesn’t mean we’ll stop sharing the wonderful moments happening in school. It simply means we’ve changed the angle. Class Dojo is excluded from this. Moving forward you will see more: backs of heads; hands-on learning and activities; and side-facing photographs where appropriate and with the relevant permissions. Our aim is simple: to celebrate the learning, creativity, friendships and special moments that make school life so wonderful, while taking every step we can to protect our children’s privacy and safety. Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we make these important changes.
Oakwood Academy is a special school for pupils aged 9-19 years who have a range of moderate and/or complex learning difficulties, we are part of Kings Academy Trust.
At Oakwood Academy we understand the enormous responsibility of preparing our pupils for their future lives. Our hope is that we can help children to become responsible citizens who will make a positive contribution to our ever changing society. At Oakwood Academy we encourage pupils to respect the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
