Update Tuesday 12th May 2020
Dear Parents, Carers & Guardians,
I am sending out this message to update you on the school's position following the Prime Minister's recent announcement. We want to see all our pupils and staff back in school as soon as possible, but this will only be done when we are confident it is safe to do so. All our rooms in school have been sanitized and we will carry out a deep clean where all rooms will be 'fogged' with a disinfectant spray prior to opening. Markings on the corridor floors will be put in to show the 2 metre distance that needs to be adhered to. Classrooms will be rearranged to adhere to social distancing. All children will have individual pencil cases so they don't need to share pens and PPE equipment is available for everyone. Plastic screens will be put up in reception and school will only be able to open for mornings only and for certain year groups, so we can reduce class sizes. Our priority will be primary aged children, Y10 as they are studying for exams, Y11, Y12, Y13 and young people on supported internships as they face key transitions. We will not let children have playtimes on the school yard as we could not guarantee keeping children apart and we are not providing school lunches as there is the potential for cross contamination. All staff who are vulnerable or need to isolate will not return to school.. I am confident that with these measures being put in place school will be a safe and secure environment for children and staff. A letter from our Chairman Mr Laurence Cooper will be sent out this week letting you know what date this will start from.
Thank you for your continued support and patience. It has been a very difficult time for everyone, so thank you.
Amanda Nicholson, Executive Principal
