In year 14 students have the option of becoming a Supported Intern. The students will gain vital work experience over 3 or 4 days a week while continuing core and vocational training at Oakwood Sixth Form. Interns will start their placements at Oakwood Community Shop with the aim that each Intern will move on to access their own bespoke independent work placement before eventually moving in to paid employment.
Many of our ‘Thrive’ students need a little extra time to gain the necessary life skills to equip them to move into supported employment, training, work or adult social care. An extra year is an option which will be discussed within the year 13 annual review.
