Oakwood Academy is barrier free and caters for 184 pupils in Years 5-11. Our Silver Street Campus offers 15 places and we have 65 Students in years 12, 13 and 14 (Sixth form). All pupils at Oakwood have a range of complex learning difficulties and physical disabilities.
Children are admitted to the school following a statutory assessment of special educational needs (SEN) under the 1996 Education Act and LA decision, in consultation with the Headteacher that Oakwood Academy is an appropriate placement to meet the child’s SEN. Admission is also subject to there being a place available in school. Prior to admission the following usually takes place: The child, Parent/Guardian will have visited the school and discussed the special educational provision available.
