Strike Day - Friday 7th July 2023

Back to All News

The NEU has announced national and regional industrial action for its teacher members across England on Friday 7th July 2023.

This is the result of a national pay dispute for teachers between Education unions and the government – it is not due to any actions taken by school, and it is a matter for the unions and the government to resolve.

Our priority, as always is the health and safety and the safeguarding of our pupils, staff and community of Oakwood. Having completed a thorough risk assessment with the Trust and staff we have made the decision to put in place a partial closure on 7th July 2023. Silver Street will be open as normal. 6th Form parents will be informed separately regarding 6th Form closure.

We can now confirm at this point, that the main site will remain open but only to certain classes. Below are the classes that will be attending Oakwood as normal:

Friday 7th July 2023
7S
7P
8P
8S
8M
9S
9F
9M
10F
10M
2 x vulnerable groups (a text message will be sent to parents/carers)

Transport for pupils in the above classes will be running as normal.

Online learning will be available via our website for all pupils not attending school and a FSM voucher will be sent home for all FSM pupils. We apologise for the inconvenience this may mean to you and your child's education, and we hope the dispute can be resolved as soon as possible.
