Safeguarding

At King's College we are committed to Safeguarding the welfare of all our students.

As with all schools and colleges we have a pastoral responsibility and are legally obliged to pass on concerns about child welfare to Children’s Services as per the Salford Safeguarding Children's partnership.

These combined Policies: Safeguarding, Child Protection and Safe Recruitment Vetting Policies are in place to protect children and young people on roll at Oakwood Academy.

King's College is part of Oakwood Academy and the Kings Academy Trust, there are three sites, all based within Salford. King's College is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children who are on our roll. Kings College fully recognises the contribution it can make to protect students and support them in college and beyond.

All staff have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which students can learn. All staff are trained in safeguarding procedures and are regularly briefed on any updates or amendments to current legislation.

Any staff member who has a concern about a student’s welfare will report these concerns to the Designated safeguarding lead or Deputy safeguarding lead at their specific site.

If anyone has concerns about a child being radicalised it is imperative that this is reported immediately to the DSL/DDSL of the school as per the prevent duty guidance, please see the link for more information on this updated guidance.

Identified Staff will then support social workers and other agencies following any referral to ensure a child or young person's safety and wellbeing.

Kings College has a Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Safeguarding Leads who support staff to carry out their safeguarding duties. All staff are aware of the Child Protection Policy, Behaviour Policy, Code of Conduct, and Missing from Education procedures and the role of the DSL/DDSL.
